“We are a pizza place. We don’t serve burgers, we don’t serve chips and we don’t serve salads. We are a pizza place.”
That’s the motto printed on the wall and on the menu of Joey’s pizza parlour.
Across the street is Bob’s.
Bob’s doesn’t have a motto but they do have a mile long menu.
It shows that at Bob’s they do burgers, they do pizza, they do kebabs, curries, sandwiches and ice cream too (sure why not?).
I think the people/organisations that stand for something wipe the floor with the competition that has something for everybody.
The specialists did the hard task of choosing a niche to focus on.
They’re not hedging their bets or swinging for the masses.
They’re focused on mastering one area and delighting a few and they reap the rewards for it.
If you lived in that town, where would you rather eat?
