“After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb” Nelson Mandela
I think what Mr. Mandela is getting at here is that the writer who finally achieves her lifetime goal of getting published will then be invited to climb more hills in the form of overcoming the disappointment of no one buying her book or dealing with the stress of trying to write a second book to follow a bestseller or finding a method for interacting with non constructive critiques of her work.
Some might discourage you from climbing that first hill, after all look at the many hills that sprouted up as a consequence of your achievement.
But the great thing about hill climbing is that you’re in charge.
If you just fancied tackling this little one and that’s all, you’re allowed to do that!
If you want a break from hill climbing – take one!
If this hill feels too high – walk away!
You’re not dooming yourself to the stress of high achievement, you can set the pace.
