Respecting others wishes

I think respect is a major pillar of relationships.

Let’s say for example a wife asks her husband to not see his ex so often as it makes her uncomfortable.

I think what the husband does next will speak volumes for how he views their marriage and what direction the relationship will take in the future.

If he acquiesces to the request and changes I think their relationship will deepen as the wife will feel respected as he proves his commitment to the relationship.

If Bob asks Bert to stop making jokes about his mother because Bob finds it too much and the jokes don’t stop, it would appear that Bert cares more about being seen as funny than Bob’s happiness.
