I think creating art that is safe is mutually exclusive from creating art that people love.
I think to evoke love you have to simultaneously risk hate.
Conversely to create something that could not possibly stir a strong negative reaction also limited the potential of the positive reactions.
For example I hate Pineapple Express, I think it’s a stupid movie and yet I know lots of people who love it.
Alternatively I feel indifferent to Grown Ups 2.
It appears to be made for the masses and so in my opinion it has a narrow range on the love/hate spectrum located around the middle.
