I think often times conversations are like relay races.
Someone picks up the baton and runs with it.
Eventually they start to slow down and someone else steps up to take the baton off them.
The thing is, once the baton is handed over the conversation is in a completely different place.
It’s no longer at the starting line, it’s now 100, 200 or 300 yards down the track.
So, it’s considered weird if you bring the conversation all the way back to the starting line when the group is a mile away.
It disturbs the flow.
