Some people marvel at grown men who get tattoos referencing a trophy they won when they were 16 but I get it.
It’s so easy to get swept up in the glory of playing for your school because the community buys in.
The younger kids look up to you.
The teachers wish you luck.
The whole school turns up to your games.
It feels like a noble purpose worthy of your time and effort.
A feeling that can be hard to replicate in other teams, organisations and clubs.
After all isn’t that what everyone wants?
To be part of a meaningful cause larger than yourself.
