“Getting the right people and the right chemistry is more important than getting the right idea”

This is an interesting quote.
Most people would have said the most important thing they need is great ideas.
But this quote says assembling the right team will produce great ideas.
That great ideas are a byproduct of all these great people bouncing off each other.
I can see that.
Two heads are better than one and all that.
But also how do we determine ‘right’?
One person’s genius could be another person’s idiot.
Ed Catmull also said just a few lines up from the starting quote:
“If you give a good idea to a mediocre team, they will screw it up. If you give a mediocre idea to a brilliant team, they will either fix it or throw it away and come up with something better”
But now is that just the confirmation bias playing up?
You deemed these people to be mediocre and then filtered everything they said through that lens.
But subjective nature aside, I think Mr. Catmull could be onto something here.
