The search for better implies a dissatisfaction with the present.
Reaching the next level seems imperative to acquiring happiness.
This seems to be a dissatisfaction that society endorses.
Those not ‘hustling’ are considered lazy.
Those without goals are dismissed as unambitious.
Now don’t get me wrong I know for a fact here are huge benefits to personal growth but I think 100% ambition is not the ideal mix.
I think contentment is underestimated.
The individual who invests time and effort becoming content with where they are is going to find happiness much quicker than the 100% ambition individual.
Now of course we don’t want to plateau or stagnate so I think one should aim for 90% contentment and 10% ambition.
The ambition shouldn’t serve as a source of happiness but as an exciting curiosity to see how far we can go.
