In the movie ‘Music and Lyrics’ Drew Barrymore’s character had an ex-boyfriend who detailed all her flaws via a fictional novel.
Hugh Grant’s character, who is interested in Drew’s character romantically, can’t suppress his curiosity and reads the book.
Then he can’t see anything but the flaws when hanging out with Drew’s character.
It’s the confirmation bias at work. Hugh’s character underestimated it and is now suffering because of it.
If you met an ex-boyfriend/ex-business partner/ex-employee would you tempt the confirmation bias?
