Disruptive protest

There was a protest today.

It disrupted my journey home from work.

What happened was a large group of people with flags and signs stood in the middle of a busy junction causing enormous amounts of traffic.

Now from a marketing point of view they certainly got everyone’s attention but from a sentiment angle their cause attracted a lot of spite.

I think this stunt angered the local community.

I believe the hammering of car horns was not done in sympathy but out of annoyance.

I posit that this protest/stunt did more harm than good.

If the protestors had handed out cupcakes to those sitting in traffic they might have started a conversation, raised awareness in a positive way and endeared more to their cause.

Awareness is not the same as enrollment.
