I think whilst a disgruntled cadet has the floor it will continue to disrupt the platoon.
And if their goal is to look big in front of the troops then the sergeant plays into their hands by airing the dirty laundry publicly.
Better I think to pull them aside and have a quiet word in private.
That way the rest of the platoon gets on with their business and you don’t play into the disruptor’s hands.
Unless of course you want to display how you deal with complaints to your subordinates by publicly squashing this qualm then by all means, tear the cadet limb from limb.
