7 people spoke at the conference and their varying intentions could not have been plainer.
The one who wanted to impress us with their research skills bored us to death with text heavy slide after text heavy slide.
The one kept their head down, read from their script and bolted out the door as soon as their part was done clearly saw this as a tick the box exercise.
Then there was the one who conducted real time polls, got the audience to stand up and included Darth Vader in their slides.
They were clearly looking to be engaging.
I think each speaker achieved their goal.
But, for me, as an audience member I appreciated the intent to be engaging the most.
It helped me listen to them.
