Giraffe waving

There is a man standing on the corner of Rathgar road and Hazelwood avenue flapping and waving his hands skyward.

103 people walked by before the curiosity got the better of Hazel and she asked the man –

What are you doing?

I’m keeping away the giraffes

Paint Hazel’s face confused.

But there are no giraffes around

The man smiled, winked at Hazel, and said

When my physio told me the best thing to do for my Achilles was just resting it, infuriated me.

When he said ice and voltarol would help with my recovery, I found my rehab so much easier.

And I reckon what happened was I felt that I had some modicum of control over my recovery when ice and voltarol were mentioned and that pleased me.

When I was told to rest it drove me crazy because I felt helpless.
