Moving the goalposts

In a previous role I was gifted a lot of autonomy and assigned an intern.

It was great because I could implement all my own ideas, without any resistance, and have help doing it too.

But I quickly learnt an unexpected downside.

In my eagerness to keep improving I kept updating our process and I’m pretty sure it drove my intern crazy!

I forgot what it was like to be an intern.

All they wanted to do was clock in, clock out, expend as little brain power as possible and I was ruining that.
