Tribes evokes associations of an ancient forgotten term but you can see their ancestors in everyday life.
It’s all about ‘Us’ vs ‘Them’.
If it’s a 1 person ‘Us’ (more of a ‘Me’ really) and an everyone else ‘Them’ then you could say that person needs to work on their social skills to find their tribe.
If it’s a 3 person ‘Us’ and the rest of the team makes up the ‘Them’, then you could label that tribe a clique.
But if the divisions between ‘Us’ and ‘Them’ align with the borders of departments or branches I would say it’s a wider cultural problem.
