Jonny is coming back from surgery and usually he would be very conservative with his rehab but this time he’s racing against the clock.
See, the rugby world cup is right around the corner and it’s looking to be his last.
He desperately wants to play so now he’s facing the difficult challenge of striking the balance between pushing himself so he’s prepared but also not so hard that he reinjures himself.
Unfortunately, the entire medical team are all off sick too, so Jonny has to gauge the balance on his own, without expert opinion.
I imagine this stresses parents out too. How much should I push my kid?
How does the coach know how hard to crack the whip with his players without them burning out?
In my opinion, without an expert’s opinion, you’ve got to rely on your instincts.
Constantly be assessing and adjusting.
Trust your gut.
