‘Only those who do not seek power are qualified to hold it’
Plato
Does that mean if you experience any sort of desire to be president that makes you a bad fit for the job?
What about chasing people to take the job, you can’t force them to do it. If they really don’t want to lead, you can’t make them.
I think Plato raises a good point and is a good warning sign for spotting the power hungry who will destroy all around them.
But at the same time, I think leadership requires stepping up.
I think it would do more harm than good to randomly select leaders.
The anxious will stress under the weight of the title and eternally feel unqualified.
The lazy will make a mockery of the status and set a bad example.
I think the best leaders take the role seriously and look to serve others.
