It’s a funny group.
Without introductions the individuals will treat you like complete strangers despite clearly being in the same group.
But if you’re able to break the ice and introduce yourself they turn out to be perfectly lovely people.
It just seems to be deeply encoded in the culture of the group that before you become friendly they treat you like furniture.
