We’re out in the Baltic sea and the captain quite naively asks:
‘Can someone please clean up the kitchen?’
Someone
The captain walks away delighted that he didn’t have to twist anyone’s arm to get the job done and now someone who wants to clean will do the cleaning.
The problem with the captain’s fantasy is, cleaning the kitchen, like most tasks, is not fun and to layer on top of that the average crew member is aiming to give themselves a sneaky pay rise by doing less for the same money.
So, the crew revels in the deniability of not being explicitly assigned the task and none of them touch the kitchen.
Leaving the captain frustrated.
