Telling others shame

In my experience of making stupid errors they are so much easier when done in private.

Similarly they are made a hundred times worse at the mere thought of confessing to others.

For example if you had decided on a secret spur of the moment trip to London but in the excitement of being so spontaneous you forgot your passport the consequences would be fairly small because you hadn’t told anyone you were doing it.

You would just shrug your shoulders, say ‘Ah well’ and plan a not so spontaneous trip to London for next weekend.

But if you had forgot your passport for that trip to New Zealand you had been telling all your family, friends, colleagues, and anyone who would listen.

You’d probably hide away in your flat for two weeks and pretend you did go when they asked just to avoid the shame.
