In the deluxe CD pack of ‘Now that’s what I call the 80’s’ it was not an even spread years wise.
Some years featured more than others.
Far from 10% of each year, visually speaking it was actually more like a bell curve.
With the years that featured the most being the middle years of 84, 85, and 86.
Now to hazard a guess at the reason behind this distribution, I think it was to do with association.
I think it’s easy to confuse a 1980 song with belonging to the 70’s era.
But a 1985 track was quintessentially 80’s as it wasn’t near any other decade and the music really hit its 80’s distinctiveness.
There could be no mistaking what decade this song belonged to.
