I think one drawback of not being forthcoming with information or a poor communicator is that it encourages persistent inquirers to seek the information elsewhere.

For example, little Timmy only gives his mother grunts or one word answers when she asks about school.

Then it comes to parent teacher evenings and Miss Marple spills the beans. Providing an extensive illustration on how school is going for Timmy.

With the informational drought from Timmy and the monsoon from Mrs. Marples, who could blame Timmy’s mum for choosing Miss Marples as her preferred port of call?

But this is only one side of the coin.

Let’s hope Miss Marples recounts a fair tale, because otherwise little Timmy is getting punished for his lack of communication skills.
