The Last Jedi for me is a selfish movie.
It’s supposed to be part two out of three but with Rian Johnson killing off the main antagonist for shock factor it left me feeling indifferent about the third instalment.
Because Kylo Ren is playing the new Darth Vader character who we know is going to turn, so we need another baddie who is pure evil to raise the stakes and bring the uncertainty.
So, then JJ Abrams, forced to find a baddie out of nowhere, resurrects Palpatine.
A move that felt contrite and diluted the original series.
But what could he do?
Rian wasn’t a team player.
