I think it’s mad that there is an outcry for Roy Keane to become the next Irish football mens manager.
Yes he was a successful player, winning 19 competitions but it’s a completely different skill set.
Yes he’s a very entertaining pundit but coaching a football team is a completely different skillset.
From all the stories that have come out about his stints as a coach he clearly doesn’t have the emotional intelligence to manage players.
Also his last coaching job was 5 years ago.
What I think is happening is that Roy Keane is consistently in the news right now.
He’s doing a lot of punditry and his opinions are regularly being used as click bait.
He’s top of mind, he’s hot right now and people are confusing publicity with competence.
It’s like when someone has their 15 minutes of fame and releases a book off the back of it.
Just because they were famous for a second does not mean they can write a good book.
