The Man United players quickly learned to fear Sir Alex.
He proved time and again that he could fly off the handle over the smallest of matters.
Players ran in fear of him and hated playing on the touchline closest to him.
Then Sir Alex started to sense the aversion his players had to his anger and so he used that to his advantage.
If a player was showing signs of dissent, Sir Alex would flash warning signs of his temper rising and the players would submit to avoid the hair dryer treatment.
So, in this way Sir Alex would use the players fear of anger to control them.
