My advice for anyone trying to achieve at the mercy of a gatekeeper’s opinion, is to regurgitate Steve Martin’s quote:
“Be so good they can’t ignore you”
Don’t be subjectively good. Be undeniably good.
Which means aiming higher and delivering higher but it also elevates you out of the murky contentious waters that is subjective opinions.
