I think there is a number of reasons why people become lecturers.
Some love the teaching aspect, the knowledge sharing and nurturing of minds. They get a kick out of seeing someone progress, ask the right questions, inquire deeper, and master a topic.
Some crave the academia and furthering of their own knowledge and clearly hate presenting to others. Which makes for a very boring lecture as they read off the slides and add no showmanship whatsoever.
Then there are those who absolutely love a room full of people listening to them talk and I reckon they put up with the academia to facilitate this attention seeking.
Ideally, as a student, you want the teacher but what can you do?
It’s not a perfect world!
