I think to maximize the joy you should enlist anticipatory joy.
I think when your audience knows and loves the option then remove the mystery and tell them early doors.
I think as a person awaiting an unknown, you experience a sense of trepidation in the lead up and you have to prepare yourself for disappointment.
But if you know in 12 hours time that you’re going to be eating one of Mizzoni’s delicious 16 inch pies then you experience anticipatory joy from now until feeding time.
