I’ve noticed there is a period before the rapport.

When meeting with an old friend or family member I haven’t seen in a while there appears to be a stage where we try to get on the same wave length.

Then, and I can’t tell you exactly when, it eventually does click and the conversation flows and the jokes arrive with ease.
