I think one of the problems with AI is that it offers a workaround for understanding.
If for some reason I was tasked with writing a blog post on neuroscience I could ask ChatGPT to do it for me.
I hand it in for my fake biology course and the lecturer thinks I’m smart but I have absolutely no idea what’s been written.
I am a complete novice when it comes to neuroscience.
But as long as ChatGPT doesn’t produce something completely made up I can continue posing as a neurology expert.
All it would take is one conversation to reveal my lack of knowledge but if you can transcribe every lecture avoid answering on the spot, and be allowed to submit the written word every time, well then long live the imposter!
