This is Darcy Graham, he’s a Scottish winger who is limping off the pitch after just 16 minutes.
And you might ask why is he crying? Why does Finn Russell feel the need to come over and console him? Some writers dubbed that game as a dead rubber, as a blatant money making scheme, and as a run out for the Lions C team.
But not for Darcy, that match meant the world to him. First game for the Lions, this is something he’s probably dreamed of since childhood. He is now in a special club and he’s representing his family, his friends, his country, and three more countries. And he’s absolutely devastated when it ends after just 16 minutes.
And I share it because Darcy could be all of us.
I don’t think anyone will ever fully appreciate how much we care about certain things but we should.
Whether you are a competitive knitter, or an avid comic book reader.
Whether there is 8 million watching or 8, it doesn’t matter.
The others don’t need to understand, as long as you care, it matters.
