I think the concerned ego-less friend doesn’t care who you confide in just as long as you don’t suffer in silence.
I think the ego-centred friend takes great pride that you confided in them and will brag about it to your other friends.
Alternatively if they know you’re suffering, they will push the hardest to claim the exclusive confidant status.
Not ideal but I imagine it happens.
