It’s 1973 and Rita is following Frank’s instructions to drive from Cork to Dublin.
It’s been going well so far, she’s followed all the directions successfully but now she’s coming to a crossroads and the right turn she is supposed to take is blocked due to roadworks.
If Rita were to be completely loyal to Frank’s instructions that means ploughing through the road signs and getting her car stuck in wet cement which will mean the end of her car’s life I suspect.
I think resourcefulness is such an in demand skill these days because it would be unreasonable to expect instructions for every single possible outcome or handholding through every problem.
The world is changing too fast.
Best I think to get a firm understanding of the situation and the goal then plan to be adaptable in how you get there.
Maybe Rita looks for road signs to Limerick, then when she’s closer to Dublin, she can follow the signs for Dublin?
Or maybe she gets a compass and heads North?
If Rita can emulate the future resourcefulness of Google Maps she’ll be in Dublin in no time rather than sitting at that crossroads, getting beeped at, waiting months for the roadworks to finish.
