I think a young coach might believe that for the team to be bonded and the culture to be good everyone has to be laughing and joking all the time.
And I think an experienced coach lets the personalities fall where they may.
Let the young bucks get all excited and silly on video games.
Let the introverts sit in silence.
Let the intellectuals talk economics.
At this point of writing, I think the true marker of a bonded team isn’t laughing and joking but that each individual feels comfortable enough to be themselves in the environment.
