I think it’s important to take the time to celebrate the little wins.
Otherwise you’re suppressing joy.
Take for example a team that plays 100 games.
They win 99 of them but they lose the last game of the season and so they consider the season a failure.
What’s more they did not celebrate any of the 99 wins because they were saving the celebrations for the 100th win.
So they spent the whole year suppressing joy only to squash it entirely and dismiss what should have been considered a fantastic year as a failure.
I understand trying to stay mentally focused on the long term goal but if there are breaks between the games then you should take the time to celebrate the little wins.
Because who knows what the future holds?
Ye might never reach 100 wins.
Ye might only win 9 games next year.
The team might never be together again.
You might die tomorrow.
The certainty is in the here and now and you achieved the desired result and that’s worth amplifying immediately after.
Compare that to the difficulty of trying to celebrate 99 wins in the aftermath of losing the 100th game.
