Irish people are not allowed to support England.
It’s due to the 800 years of oppression.
So whenever England are playing an Irish person is supposed to cheer on the opposition.
But what’s funny is that if you’re an Irish person who’s a soccer fan, it’s highly likely that you support an English football club.
There are some that support the Irish football league but it’s just not that big or exciting.
So, then you have this weird dynamic where, for some reason, you’re allowed to love and support Harry Maguire when he plays for Man United but hate and boo him when he plays for England.
