It was a sad day for humanity when John decided to make Bert feel bad but what was even worse was that Bert let him.
When John came in with all those insults and put downs Bert didn’t see it as nonsense or for what it truly was, a hurt person trying to hurt someone else.
Instead he took it as a gospel, that he was worthless.
