Blind date jitters

The scene was a double date.

Half of the date was a well established couple, the other half was a blind date.

Despite the boy of the blind date arriving a little bit late, it appeared that he was a perfect match for the girl.

He seemed to check all the boxes the girl told us about beforehand anyway and was perfectly charming throughout the couple of hours.

But as the boy wanders off home and we press the girl for her opinion, it’s as short as:

Absolutely not, he was late

I was shocked to say the least. I kept thinking how could she not see past the tardiness? Because there was loads of good bits after it.

But reflecting more on it, I think a fearful mind struggles to be open and fair in its appraisal.

I think she was sat there scared of being on a date again, after years and years, and maybe as the minutes rolled by she started to believe she would be stood up and that triggered her anger and the boy never stood a chance.

He was dismissed from the off.
