Gig balance

I’ve never put on a gig but as an audience member you get a sense of the balance the artist wants to strike.

On the one hand, the audience, wants to hear the hits but on the other, playing the same songs over and over again can be soul crushing, I imagine.

So then you hear the band’s favourite songs that weren’t popular and weird versions of classics, as the band fight their boredom.

But the sweet spot I reckon is a cover slot.

Each gig play a cover of a popular song in a new way.

That way the audience gets to hear a song they like and the band get their novelty creative kick.
