Unachieving two year old

The ‘not good enough’ belief is a funny one.

It makes people feel terrible about themselves while they strive to achieve in order to feel worthy of love.

So they say ‘not good enough yet’.

But no achievement no matter how big makes them feel whole.

To flip it on its head you can believe that everyone is deserving of love now.

Which might be hard to swallow and you might have questions like –

But what about Hitler? Are you telling me, he deserves love?

I think the love we extend to Hitler is a sympathetic view into how he turned out the way he did. We still punish him for his crimes but the love comes in the form of exploring what led him to such a twisted view of humanity.

I think another way to look at it, is the unachieving two year old.

They have no career milestones, in fact they can barely string two sentences together and yet when you’re around them, you can’t help but shower them in affection.

To deny them love until they have achieved would feel cruel.
