‘The Wizard of Oz‘ is a nice and simple plot.
You have the bad guys over there and the good guys over here, with a very easy to grasp understanding of when the mission is complete.
I thought ‘Wicked’ layered in the complexity very well.
Where ‘The Wizard of Oz‘ had black and white categories, ‘Wicked‘ artfully lived in the grey.
The bad guys aren’t so bad, the good guys aren’t so good.
It’s a level of complexity you come to know in adult relationships and appreciate when reflected well up on the silver screen.
