Mindfulness – nope

I think the problem with mindfulness for most people is either the possibility of their demons catching up with them or having to face up to the shitty parts of reality.

So they numb themselves with TV, or their phone, or both at the same time.

It’s probably not a conscious decision. Also the addictiveness of content these days makes it extremely hard not to fall into the trap.

The path to course correct is clear but in the short term it’s a tough sell.

“We’re offering you less fun videos and more awareness of the shitty parts of your life, all for a long term goal of a vague amount of peace of mind

It’s no wonder people don’t meditate!

But I think the more you tune in to reality, both good and bad, the more you see the balance of the universe.

There are cycles and patterns.

Yes that was a bad moment but it was immediately followed by a good moment. In fact, that bad moment has made you a better person.

If your head is in your phone all the time you can’t see the patterns.

What’s more, the shitty parts of your life require you to engage with them to problem solve and make them better. Which you can’t do if you’re watching cat video after cat video.
