Queer Eye is a great example of how people unconsciously default to the lowest possible standards.
Especially in fashion.
Before Tan arrives they are, without fail, wearing the most casual outfits possible.
And Tan’s constant refrain is to elevate their standards.
It’s not drastic, he doesn’t push them to wear tuxedos and ball gowns.
It’s just a tiny incremental step.
From flip flops to closed toe shoes.
From jeans to chinos.
From singlets to buttoned shirts.
It seems to be a lesson easily learnt too.
They understand the different levels and can creatively mix and match with ease.
