At the age of 23 Giovanni completed his first marathon in 5 hours and 36 minutes.
To the rest of the world this is not noteworthy.
The winner finished a whole Lord of the Rings movie before Giovanni.
You might even say Giovanni should be ashamed of himself.
There was people twice his age finishing the marathon quicker than him.
But to Giovanni the experience was transformative because at mile 24, Giovanni hit the ‘wall’.
He had a mental breakdown and decided to quit.
He was too tired.
He couldn’t run anymore.
He was out.
Then somehow he found a way to overcome this despair and finish.
He discovered that his resilience well was much deeper than he thought.
