I think it falls under common decency to inform people of their options.
Just like it would be cruel for a policeman to take advantage of a confused immigrant by not informing them of their right to an attorney.
Not saying there will be many occasions where an adult will not know they have options.
Like romantically everyone should know that they can leave a bad relationship and date whoever they want.
But where there is an asymmetry of information and you’re not forthcoming to suit your own agenda then you’re wandering into morally murky territory.
