Flow and ego

I think playing sport is made up of flow and ego.

You could spend 90% of the game operating instinctively without doubt and gaining great satisfaction from it.

But the remaining 10%, typically in the last few minutes when the game is to be decided, is when you see the ego calling the shots.

Making statements like:

“We are not losing this game”

I think playing sport loses it’s enjoyment when the ego takes over and the satisfaction from experiencing the flow is not enough.
