I think one of the appealing factors around the Ocean’s films is that it aims to portray honour among thieves.
The motives appear to be more about noble causes than greed.
Take Ocean’s thirteen for example the entire film is to honour their fallen friend.
Ocean’s Twelve they are forced out of retirement by a betrayal.
And Oceans Eleven is about a man trying to get the love of his life back.
I think these narratives deliberately avoid triggering the audience’s morale radar so that they can enjoy the intellect in solving a seemingly impossible problem.
