Attractive Busywork

Is it any wonder that busywork becomes so attractive when the hard work beckons?

That when you should be studying you’re finally cleaning your room.

This isn’t a wondrous thing, this is a textbook tactic of the lizard brain. The sabotage gene who wants the road of least resistance.

This phenomenon affects everyone but people vary on how they deal with it. Some will cower and procrastinate forever, while others will get the work done.

The first step to beating the lizard brain in my opinion is awareness.

Steven Pressfield calls it ‘the Resistance’ and writes about it brilliantly in ‘The war of art’. I highly recommend it. It could be your first step towards overcoming procrastination.
