A job opens up in your company, a job you could do well. They’re accepting internal applications but everyone has to interview. Would you go for it?
You peruse the job description, you could definitely do this job and it’s more pay. You start to debate it in your head, will I go for it? But before you can answer that question another one comes rushing in:
Would they hire me?
You don’t know the answer to this question. You can attempt telepathy and analysing your colleagues’ body language, but that won’t provide you with a definitive answer.
On the one hand, you want the job but to get it you have to step out of your hiding place. You have to risk embarrassment and rejection. The uncertainty eats away at you.
What would you do?
Now usually people don’t come out and say they’re scared. It is typically expressed with phrases such as ‘ah I don’t have enough experience’ or ‘they’d never hire me’
You might get the job, you might not get the job.
There’s only one way to find out.
