Occasionally you will see a vicious cycle amongst workers.
When someone gets very busy they will start to feel run down from all the stress and then ironically they won’t take a sick day because there is so much to do. In their eyes they can’t afford to miss a day.
Well I think this presents a wonderful opportunity for productivity.
It forces one to recognize their constraints and evaluate their output.
For example, physically you feel terrible and you decide you absolutely need your rest so you’re going to leave work at 6pm today. That means you have an hour left in the day to get that report done.
This iron clad deadline provides a sense of urgency to strip away the inessential and concentrate.
Then you stand a better chance of breaking the cycle, well in my point of view anyway.
